Being accountable to the web of people and places I interact with is critical. My additional training supports this process and keeps me current in the counseling field:
• Four years of volunteer work with Natural Transitions and related communities in Boulder County, supporting holistic and green approaches to grief and the end of life. I am still involved peripherally.
• One-year practicum and internship with Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence in Boulder. Included 40-hour paraprofessional anti-violence training for crisis intervention, and 40+ hours of additional trainings on social and cultural topics, group work, and advocacy.
• Education for Racial Equity. 80 hours of participation, including trainings, Community Consultations, small group work, and one-to-one coaching.
• Embody Lab. Reclaiming Pleasure: Embodied Joy in Trauma Recovery and Social Change. For healers and activists to learn tools to not only effect change in others, but to sustain their bodies and spirits in the work.
• Cascadia Training. Being Neurodivergent in a Neurotypical World. Strengths-based training, exploring neurodivergence. Centering lived experiences of neurodivergent folks. Focus on Autistic and ADHDer experiences.
• Northpoint Recovery. Training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills for addiction recovery. Northpoint addresses substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions using a holistic approach.
• Right Use of Power Institute. Core training: Dynamic, inspiring, and relational approaches to the ethical use of professional and personal power.
• Faculty of Astrological Studies, London. Foundations course: I list this here for potential clients who orient to astrology as a way of knowing, and who are looking for a therapist who has a basic understanding of this framework. Note that I do not incorporate astrology reading into counseling.
